Irish Coffee Recipe inspired by The Buena Vista

This Irish Coffee recipe is inspired by the ones served at the historic Buena Vista in San Fransisco.  They started making Irish Coffees in the 1950’s when they recreated the highly touted Irish Coffee served at Shannon Airport in Ireland.  You can use your favorite Irish Whiskey for this recipe, but the Buena Vista uses Tullamore Dew

Irish Coffee Recipe inspired by The Buena Vista

Ingredients

  • 2 Sugar Cubes, (or 2 Teaspoons Sugar)
  • 5 oz very hot Coffee
  • 2 oz Irish Whiskey
  • ¼ Cup Heavy Cream (Double Cream)

Method

  • 1)

    Fill an 8 oz Irish Coffee mug with boiling hot water. Let sit for 1 minute, then pour out. Add 2 Sugar Cubes to the glass & fill with 5oz hot coffee. Stir & breakup the sugar cubes until dissolved. Add 2 oz Irish Whiskey

  • 2)

    Add ¼ Cup of Heavy Cream into a shaker & shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Hold a spoon over the glass & pour the cream over the spoon until the glass is full. Enjoy!
