Philz is one of the best coffee shops in the country specializing in single-cup, pour-over coffee drinks. They started in the San Fransisco area and have been so successful in the last two decades, they started to expand in Southern California as well. My favorite location was at Pacific City in Huntington Beach, you could grab a hand-crafted coffee and find deck seating nearby with a beautiful view of the beach across the street.
I’m sharing a quick & easy copycat of their most popular drink, an Iced Mint Mojito Coffee using Trader Joe’s Instant Cold Brew Coffee. It’s refreshing, creamy, not overly-sweet and the mint adds the most lovely note. Watch my short Instagram recipe video here
I used these 3D silicone molds to make adorable teddy bear coffee ice cubes, mix 1 Teaspoon of Trader Joe’s Instant Cold Brew with 1 Cup of Water, add milk or half & half if you want the bears to be lighter in color – fill the molds and freeze until solid.
The secret to Philz’s delicious cream foam is to shake the container of heavy cream vigorously before adding it to the coffee, shaking it adds air into the cream, causing it to float to the top. If the container of heavy cream is full, pour a little out so there’s enough space to shake it.
