Prep time: 15 minutes

My kids had the funnest time making these Marbled Eggs. The eggs look absolutely beautiful and the technique is very simple to do. The marble effect comes from using whipped cream + food coloring and your eggs will still be edible.

Check out my method for hard boiling eggs in the Instant Pot here.

Place several drops of dye on top of the whipped cream. You can use multiple colors if you wanted a rainbow effect.

Use a toothpick or another small stick and create a few swirls in the cream, drawing figure 8s in the cream worked well for us.

Roll your hard boil eggs in the whipped cream, making sure that the entire egg is covered. Let it sit in the whipped cream dye for about 15 minutes, then rinse off the eggs & enjoy your beautiful Marbled Eggs!

This looks like it would be a lot of fun.

Can you use the whipped cream/dye for more than one egg or do you need to make the mixture all over again? And for the whipped cream, firm peaks or soft peaks?

Hi Carroll, you could use it for more than one egg, I’d add a little more coloring the next batch. Not sure if it would work well if you’re doing the multi-colored ones. Soft to medium peaks work well.
