Prep time: 13 minutes

Serves: Generous Frosting for 12 Cupcakes

This is the best recipe for Classic American Buttercream, it’s fluffy, creamy, buttery and decadent. This frosting pairs well with almost every flavor cake or cupcakes. It’s easy and fast to make and the flavor is so superior to store bought frosting, there’s no reason to ever buy it again. It’s beautiful to frost with, I love using Russian Ball Piping Tips for cupcakes, because you can make gorgeous cupcakes so easily — just look up some YouTube tutorials to learn how to frost with them.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Unsalted Butter, room temperature
  • 2 Tablespoons Cream Cheese
  • 3 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1½ Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • ⅛ Teaspoon Salt
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Heavy Whipping Cream

Method

  • 1)

Place 1 Cup of room temperature Butter and 2 Tablespoons of Cream Cheese into your mixer, use the paddle attachment and beat on Med-High for 6-7 Minutes, the butter should be very light and creamy.

  • 2)

Turn the speed to low and add in the Powdered Sugar ½ Cup at a time, waiting until it fully incorporates before adding more Powdered Sugar.

  • 3)

Add in 1½ Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract, ⅛ Teaspoon Kosher Salt and 1 Tablespoon of Cream. Whip on high speed for about 3-5 minutes, scrape your bowl once to make sure everything is mixing evenly -—the frosting should be smooth, creamy and fluffy. You can add another tablespoon of Cream to make it smoother if you prefer. After you’re done mixing, use a spatula to stir up the buttercream, this helps get rid of any air pockets and will make the buttercream smoother. Enjoy!
