Ingredients

  • 14 oz Sourdough Bread, cut into 1-2 inch squares
  • 6 Large Eggs
  • 1¾ Cup Milk
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • ½ Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ Cup Brown Sugar, divided
  • ¼ Cup Salted Butter
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Method

  • 1)

In a large bowl, add 6 Large Eggs, 1 Cup Heavy Cream, 1¾ Cups Milk, ½ Teaspoon Cinnamon, ¼ Cup Brown Sugar and whisk very well until the eggs are completely mixed in, there should be no egg whites floating around. Add the Sourdough Bread pieces, toss to coat each piece in the custard and set aside for 20 minutes.

  • 2)

Pre-heat oven to 375°F. Grease a 13×9 inch baking dish very well with butter, toss the bread pieces one more time, pour into the baking dish and even it out with a spoon. Make butterscotch sauce by adding ¼ Cup Brown Sugar and ¼ Cup Salted Butter to a sauce pan, heat on medium until it comes to a simmer, stir well – it should look like caramel sauce. Drizzle over the top of the bread pieces. Bake for 35 Minutes. Top with whipped cream, serve with fresh berries and real maple syrup. Enjoy!
