If you’ve ever visited Disneyland, you’ve surely enjoyed one of the best frozen desserts on earth. Yes, I’m talking about the Dole Whip! Each time I’d head over to The Tiki Room, I’d hope for a line—that way I could finish my Dole Whip in the amazing atmosphere that is Adventureland.
I’ve created this easy, homemade version of Dole Whip with ingredients you can find at any grocery store so you can have your own luau at home – and you don’t even need an ice cream maker. No, this isn’t identical to Disneyland’s since this uses real pineapple + ice cream (they use this Dole Whip Mix that doesn’t have pineapple – I have a replica recipe for it here) Forget the lines, just pull up some beach chairs in your very own backyard and drift off to paradise. Without further adieu, I bring you my very own version of Dole Whip. I can almost hear José and Michael now…
I have made this with regular and vegan vanilla ice cream. I prefer using regular vanilla ice cream, the texture is creamier and closer to the original version, but it’s still not as light and airy as Disney’s since it’s not made in a soft serve machine. The addition of Xanthan Gum helps it stay creamier because it prevents ice crystals from forming. This Dole Mix is what Disneyland actually uses & gasp! 😱 it has artificial pineapple flavoring & stabilizers instead of real pineapple, but it still tastes great 😂
These cool cups are from Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar in Downtown Disney, they have awesome appetizers and tiki drinks, you can pay a little extra to “keep” the tiki glasses, but they just give you brand new ones when you leave.
