Trader Joe’s Cheesesteak Sandwich Recipe

  • Prep time: 5 minutes
  • Cook time: 15 minutes
  • Serves: 4-6 Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 1.25 Pounds Shaved Beef Steak
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, remove seeds & slice into strips
  • 1 Onion, sliced
  • 1 Teaspoon Coarse Kosher Salt or Coarse Sea Salt (divided)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 4-8 Slices of Pepper Jack or Provolone
  • 2 Ciabatta Baguettes, cut into 6.5 inch sections
  • 2 Tablespoons Avocado Oil

Method

  • 1)

In a large non-stick skillet, add 2 Tablespoons of Oil and turn the heat to high. Add the sliced Green Bell Peppers, Onions, sprinkle on ½ Teaspoon of Kosher Salt and sauté until the onions start to brown and the bells peppers are soft and turn an army green color – usually takes 5 minutes. Pour them into a bowl or plate and set aside.

  • 2)

In the same pan add 1.25 Pounds of Shaved Beef Steak, sprinkle on ¼ Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper and ½ Teaspoon of Kosher Salt, cook on high heat until the steak starts to get dark sear. It will release water at first and once that evaporates it will start to sear. Add the green bell peppers and onions back into skillet in an even layer and lay the slices of cheese on top (use 6-8 slices if you like your sandwiches extra cheesy) and cover the pan for about 2 minutes, it’s ready when the cheese is completely melted.

  • 3)

Lightly toast the Ciabatta, it should still be quite soft. Cut ciabatta lengthwise, but not all the way through. Divide the filling and spoon into the ciabatta rolls. Enjoy!
